The GB electricity industry is undergoing fundamental change, to such an extent that almost everything will be different by 2030 – assuming the country’s Net Zero plans are delivered. When are the ESR tender round deadlines?   National Grid ESO runs restoration tenders periodically to ensure there are sufficient generators and other assets available to provide this service. The latest ESR tender rounds began in 2022 and will continue into 2024, covering the full geography of mainland GB. The South-East tender has concluded and the Northern tender ITT2 submissions closed on 2nd February 2024. The South-West and Midlands tender is the latest to be announced. What is Electricity System Restoration?   Electricity System Restoration (ESR) is the procedure to recover from a Partial or Total Shutdown of the National Electricity Transmission System, which has caused an extensive loss of supply. TNEI have prepared a briefing to detail the key national planning policy changes since the adoption of NPF4, with a particular focus on the Renewable Energy industry.
