Electricity System Restoration Tender Rounds 

What is Electricity System Restoration?   Electricity System Restoration (ESR) is the procedure to recover from a Partial or Total Shutdown of the National Electricity Transmission System, which has caused an extensive loss of supply. The National Grid ESO, our electricity system operator, has a Grid Code obligation to, at any time, be able to restore the electricity network in the event of a Partial or Total Shutdown within the stipulated timeframes.   When are the ESR tender round deadlines? National Grid ESO runs restoration tenders periodically to ensure there are sufficient generators and other assets available to provide this service. The latest ESR tender rounds began in 2022 and will continue into 2024, covering the full geography of mainland GB. The Adoption of NPF4

TNEI have prepared a briefing to detail the key national planning policy changes since the adoption of NPF4, with a particular focus on the Renewable Energy industry. The implications and consequences of these changes for how the planning system operates moving forward are also covered.NPF4 is a long-term spatial plan for Scotland which sets out where development andinfrastructure is needed and provides land use policy for development and investment inScotland to assist in achieving net zero, sustainable development by 2045. The first draft NPF4 was laid before Scottish Parliament in November 2021 and a reviseddraft was presented in November 2022. The Scottish Parliament voted to approve therevised NPF4 in whole on 11 January 2023 and on 13 February 2023 NPF4 was formallyadopted, superseding the SPP and becoming part of the statutory Development Plan. Leading the Charge

Bridging the Gap: Towards a zero-carbon power grid
