Dr Muhammad Ali presented a paper at EWEA Offshore 2015 in Copenhagen, on Wednesday 11th March. Muhammad presented a methodology for determining an electrical layout of an offshore wind farm that is cost-efficient, reliable and features lower losses. The method considers the complete electrical layout from the turbines to the shore and consider the developer’s budget and design requirements as an integral part of the process. The method is applicable to multi-MW offshore wind farms several kilometres away from the land. EWEA – MA.JPG

TNEI is currently delivering training in Electricity Markets to Ofgem. The course covers the evolution of the British Electricity Industry, a comparison of pool market structures versus bilateral models and an explanation of the BETTA mechanism including balancing and settlement. We also examine trading in the electricity markets and market liquidity, innovation, charging and interconnection. Topical areas such as EMR, European grid codes and European market coupling are also covered.
