TNEI welcomes publication of the much-anticipated UK Hydrogen Strategy. The contribution that low carbon hydrogen can make towards achieving net-zero could be huge. Having been involved in energy and transport system demonstration projects involving green hydrogen generation and use since 2008 we understand the energy system opportunities and the challenges to scaling up both supply and demand. Hydrogen has potential to be a key contributor in helping achieve ambitious net-zero targets in the UK. The strategy’s whole energy system approach is essential. Its roadmap sets out a series of ambitions aligned with key targets such as 40GW of offshore wind generation by 2030, feeding an integrated hydrogen network that supplies a wide range of industrial and transport users. Energy Networks Association (ENA) has today introduced a new tool developed by TNEI to help flexibility providers follow a clear, common and more accurate approach for measuring how much flexibility they have delivered to Britain’s distribution network operators (DNOs).You can find the tool here:https://ena-baselining.herokuapp.com/baselining_app/. The tool, designed by ENA’s Open Networks programme and the TRANSITION project led by Scottish and Southern Electricity Networks (SSEN) Distribution, has been developed by specialist energy consultancy TNEI. It will be used by flexibility providers to explore and determine their baseline calculations for participating in flexibility markets. A baseline is required to allow ongoing understanding and verification of the volume of flexibility services provided. In line with the programme’s approach and working alongside SSEN,TNEI has taken a collaborative, transparent approach in creating the required implementable algorithms for calculating baselines.These algorithms form the engine behind the tool and this engine is openly available to DNOs ““
