Claire Snowball joins TNEI with four years experience in ecological consultancy and is a full member of the Institute of Ecology and Environmental Management, IEEM.Claire has a BSc(Hons) in Zoology and an MSc in Wildlife Conservation and Management and is licensed by Natural England, the Countryside Council for Wales and Scottish Natural Heritage to carry out surveys on great crested newts, and by Natural England to carry out surveys on bats. Energy consultancy TNEI Services has tackled the issue of wind shear head-on by developing their own method of modelling and assessing turbine noise which takes account of wind shear at individual wind farm sites. The method is founded on bespoke software designed in-house by TNEI’s noise experts in conjunction with colleagues in the Wind Resource Assessment team. Recent research has shown Wind Shear to be an important consideration for wind farm planning and noise assessments because failure to consider wind shear can, on certain sites, lead to under prediction of levels of wind turbine noise. Petrofac, the international oil & gas facilities service provider, confirms that it has purchased TNEI Services Limited (TNEI) through the acquisition of its holding company New Energy Industries Limited for a consideration of £7.5 million, of which 30% is contingent upon senior management’s continued participation in the business. TNEI is a specialist consultancy supporting the energy, power and renewables sectors and has some 50 staff in Newcastle and Manchester; its acquisition further broadens Petrofac’s technical consulting capacity. TNEI provides services in the areas of power transmission and distribution, planning and environmental consent and energy management.
