Derby City Council granted consent for two 132m to tip wind turbines on land at Derby Sewage Treatment Works, Spondon, Derby.
TNEI were commissioned by Regeneco Ltd, on behalf of Severn Trent Water, to provide full planning and environmental consultancy services on the Severn Trent Water wind project. TNEI initially undertook an extensive GIS sieving and feasibility assessment of the STW portfolio. One of the sites identified as potentially being suitable for a wind turbine development was Derby Sewage Treatment Works.
TNEI commenced environmental and technical assessments on the site for the purposes of compiling supporting documentation and submitting a planning application. TNEI then managed the relationships with key stakeholders through the life of the application. The development gained support from Derby City Council and was consented at 6-0 at committee in September 2012.
The scheme will consist of two wind turbines with a maximum height to blade tip of 132 metres, as well as associated infrastructure. The project will have a maximum installed capacity of 6.8MW.
Construction is scheduled to commence in 2013.
