TNEI Submitted a Section 36 Application on behalf of NEP for a 100MW BESS on land north and west of High Boydstone Farm in North Ayrshire. TNEI initially prepared and submitted an Environmental Impact Assessment Screening Request to the Energy Consents Unit to seek agreement that an EIA is not required. Following confirmation that an EIA was not required TNEI led on the preparation of the Section 36 Application including the co-ordination of two Public Consultation Events, undertaking a noise assessment and associated reporting, Planning Statement to assess compliance against policy, as well as providing ongoing strategy advice throughout the consenting process. TNEI co-ordinated technical inputs on drainage, transport, ecology, flood risk, landscape and soils to support the submission to the ECU.
TNEI subsequently undertook post submission liaison activities with the ECU and North Ayrshire Council including provision of further assessment work and attendance at meetings on matters including traffic impacts and noise. TNEI also liaised with North Ayrshire Council to negotiate acceptable noise conditions. On the 2nd of June 2025 Section 36 Consent was granted by the ECU.
“Throughout the preparation of the Section 36 application, TNEI were responsive and diligent; providing clear advice and dealing proactively with any issues resulting in a quick decision at local level, followed by the full S36 consent. We’d like to thank the whole team and I look forward to working with TNEI again in the future.”
