TNEI Principal Consultant and International Lead, Dr Charlotte Higgins, recently presented 3 papers across 3 days at the CIGRE GCC Power 2017 Conference & Exhibition in Oman.
Charlotte has an extensive background in the energy sector with over 18 years of experience in the field of systems analysis, particularly in power systems applications. She has expertise in technical, economic and regulatory considerations for the future development of transmission & distribution networks including integration of renewable generation, smart grids, HVDC and low carbon technology.
Managed by GCC CIGRE, the 13th GCC “ CIGRE International Conference and 22nd Exhibition for Electrical Equipment, GCC Power 2017 Conference & Exhibition, was held in Grand Millennium, MUSCAT “ SULTANATE OF OMAN from the 16thto18thOctober 2017.
This event gives participants the opportunity to learn about the latest developments in the electricity and energy industry. The conference offers the ideal forum for all those concerned with the power sector to develop business relations and discuss the issues and challenges facing the power sector in the region. Delegates had the opportunity to discuss the latest trends, challenges, developments and strategies to meet the region’s rapidly expanding energy needs through a series of panel and technical sessions.

Charlotte said of her visit “ “It was really interesting to hear about developments in the power sector across the GCC. Significant engineering expertise is being applied to solve new challenges with increasing renewables and interconnection as well as to improve efficiency with greater automation and digitization. It was also inspiring to see many early career engineers from the region present on their work. We are excited to play a role in the evolution of the GCC power sector”.
