Onshore Wind Conference 2025 in Edinburgh

Ryan Llewellyn, Gemma Clark, Chris Pepper, Megan Barrie, Xiaoqing Tang, and Calum Brook recently attended the Onshore Wind Conference 2025, organised by RenewableUK and Scottish Renewables at the Edinburgh International Conference Centre.

The two day conference brought together the onshore wind industry from around the world, with talks held in two breakout rooms on a wide variety of topics related to Onshore Wind Farms.

There were a range of renewable energy developers present at the event, as well as those providing consultancy services and those working in the supply chain including turbine installers, turbine manufacturers, and transportation companies.

Of particular interest were the governmental keynotes and sessions which covered some of the current barriers to onshore wind (primarily regarding aviation and defence), how deployment can be delivered quicker, how onshore wind can meet the climate and nature crises, considerations around repowering of some of the oldest operating wind turbines, how to deliver lasting socio-economic benefits and the key risks to getting positive consent decisions and potential solutions to these risks.

During government keynotes, there was assurance given to the ongoing support and need for onshore wind and the need to ramp up the deployment of this technology to meet targets.

It is clear that there remains much to do to bring forward quick deployment of onshore wind in the UK but also a real desire within the industry to work collaboratively to achieve wider goals and meet the challenges of climate change.

TNEI was delighted to have the opportunity to be one of the exhibitors at the event and to showcase how our range of services can help support the wider onshore wind industry.

It was an excellent opportunity to catch up with existing clients and potentially some new ones to discuss industry challenges, successes and potential opportunities as a key sector for TNEI.

A sincere thank you to the hosts and contributors for a very fascinating two days in Edinburgh, we’re already looking forward to OnshoreWind26 in Edinburgh.
