PROJECT DESCRIPTION
TNEI was commissioned to perform a large-scale power system study on the South African Transmission network to investigate possible future scenarios of how the Integrated Resource Plan (IRP) 2019 generation allocations might manifest.
SERVICES PROVIDED
Several possible solar and wind generation integration scenarios were developed and studied in DIgSILENT PowerFactory at three snapshots in time over the forthcoming decade. Points of generation evacuation congestion were noted, with potential, high-level network solutions provided.
BENEFITS DELIVERED
The results of this study provided long-term strategic guidance to our Client, who was able to restructure their pipeline of large-scale wind and solar projects to better align with grid capacity forecasts.
