IT Network / Security Engineer

THE POSITION

We are seeking a skilled and motivated Network / Security Engineer to join our team on a fixed-term contract. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing, implementing, maintaining, and securing our network infrastructure, ensuring high availability, performance, and compliance with security best practices.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES WILL INCLUDE

  • Design, implement, and maintain secure network infrastructure, including LAN/WAN, VPNs, firewalls, and cloud networking components.
  • Proactively monitor network performance and security, troubleshoot complex issues, and ensure high availability and resilience of systems.
  • Deploy, configure, and manage security controls such as firewalls, intrusion detection/prevention systems (IDS/IPS), endpoint protection, and access controls.
  • Perform regular vulnerability assessments, support remediation activities, and lead or assist in incident response and root cause analysis.
  • Maintain accurate technical documentation, support audits, and ensure compliance with organisational policies and industry security standards (e.g., ISO 27001, NIST).

REQUIREMENTS

Essential requirements include: 

  • Proven experience as a Network Engineer, Security Engineer, or similar role.
  • Strong knowledge of networking protocols (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, routing and switching).
  • Hands-on experience with firewalls (e.g., Cisco, Fortinet, Sonicwall) and VPN technologies.
  • Familiarity with security frameworks and standards (e.g., ISO 27001, NIST, CIS).
  • Experience with network monitoring and security tools.
  • Knowledge of cloud networking and security (AWS, Azure, or GCP) is desirable.
  • Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills.
  • Excellent communication and documentation abilities.

Desirable requirements:  

  • Relevant certifications (e.g., CCNA, CCNP, CISSP, CompTIA Security+).
  • Experience with automation and scripting (e.g., Python, PowerShell).
  • Familiarity with SIEM tools and log analysis.
  • Experience in incident response and threat management.
