STATUS: 37.5 hours per week, Permanent.
SALARY: Competitive and based on experience and qualifications.
LOCATION: Glasgow or Newcastle upon Tyne. There will be a requirement for travel to undertake site work, which may require some nights away from home
THE POSITION
We’re searching for a Graduate Consultant to join our Environment & Engineering Team. Applicants should come from an academic background in either acoustics, physics, maths or engineering to assist our acoustics consultants with noise propagation modelling and data analysis.
The Environmental & Engineering team assists developers in taking energy projects from conceptual ideas to buildable assets.

KEY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Undertaking baseline noise monitoring surveys;
- Data analysis of measured data;
- Noise prediction and propagation modelling;
- Input to technical noise assessment reports; and
- Modelling input and reporting for other technical studies, such as shadow flicker assessments.
REQUIREMENTS
Essential requirements include:
- An acoustics, physics, maths or engineering related degree;
- Strong general numeric and mathematical skills;
- Full Driving Licence;
- Proactive team player;
- Excellent organisational skills;
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills;
- Proactive and solution orientated with strong attention to detail;
- Interest in energy and the environment; and
- An ability to understand and explain abstract concepts in a clear way to technical and non-technical audiences.
Desirable requirements:
- Experience of data management and analysis;
- Coding skills, especially python; and
- Affiliation with the Institute of Acoustics.
