TNEI acted as Planning Agent on behalf of Statkraft UK Ltd for the preparation and submission of a major planning application to East Ayrshire Council for a Greener Grid Park development on land adjacent to Coylton substation.
On behalf of Statkraft UK Ltd, TNEI submitted a major planning application to East Ayrshire Council (EAC) for a Greener Grid Park (GGP) development adjacent to Coylton Substation. This development will provide stability and support to the electricity network in Scotland.
TNEI prepared and submitted an EIA screening request to EAC to successfully screen the GGP as non-EIA development. In tandem with screening TNEI undertook pre-application consultation with EAC to discuss the proposed GGP development and to identify any concerns which EAC may have and how these could be addressed.
Subsequently TNEI prepared the major planning application including co-ordinating multi-disciplinary inputs on arboriculture, archaeology, drainage, ecology, landscape, noise, peat, and traffic. TNEI led on the peat survey, the assessment against planning policy and a summary of the consultation activities undertaken by Statkraft.
TNEI submitted the application to the EAC in October 2023. In February 2024 EAC planning committee recommended that the application be approved and in March 2024 EAC issued planning permission for the GGP development.
