THE POSITION
We’re searching for a Senior Consultant with Earthing Design Studies experience to join us at an exciting stage of our growth. In this role, you will undertake and deliver earthing design and safety studies for transmission, distribution, renewable generation, battery storage and industrial power system projects. You will be expected to deliver assigned studies independently, working closely with internal specialists to provide robust, practical and innovative engineering solutions.

KEY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Key Duties & Responsibilities;
- Deliver earthing design and safety studies for generation, storage, transmission and distribution projects, acting as Study Engineer on assigned consultancy projects.
- Perform earthing system assessments using industry-standard software, including CDEGS, XGSLab or equivalent tools.
- Prepare high-quality technical reports, calculations and recommendations for clients and contribute to proposals, technical bids and business development activities.
- Support the development and improvement of engineering tools, methodologies and technical standards within the business.
- Mentor and train junior consultants and collaborate across power systems, EMT, protection, and grid compliance teams.
- Be pro-active in collaborating with the UK team on project or proposal work.
REQUIREMENTS
Essential requirements include:
- Degree qualified in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline with 5+ years of experience in the power systems field.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience delivering earthing design and safety studies for transmission, distribution, renewable generation and/or industrial power system projects.
- Excellent understanding of earthing design principles and electrical safety considerations associated with HV and EHV substations.
- Experience using CDEGS, XGSLab or equivalent earthing analysis software.
- Understanding of relevant earthing standards and engineering practices, including BS EN 50522, ENA TS 41-24 and IEEE 80.
- Ability to independently undertake technical studies, analyse results, and produce clear engineering reports and recommendations.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Ability to manage personal workload and deliver projects to agreed timescales and quality standards.
Desirable requirements:
- Postgraduate degree in Electrical Power Engineering.
- Experience of transmission-connected renewable generation and battery energy storage projects.
- Knowledge of lightning protection systems and associated standards.
- Experience carrying out electromagnetic interference (EMI), induction or electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) studies.
- Familiarity with power system analysis software such as IPSA, DIgSILENT PowerFactory, ETAP or PSS®E.
- Capability in Python, VBA or other engineering automation tools.
