Last week, colleagues from across TNEI’s global offices came together in Lancaster for a two-day company away day focused on connection, collaboration and the future of the business.
Hosted at Lancaster University, the event brought together teams from around the world for the Company Annual General Meeting (AGM), interactive workshops, a group environmental activity, and an evening celebration hosted by Team Africa, who this year is celebrating their 10th anniversary.
The event opened with the Company AGM where the TNEI team was provided with an opportunity to reflect on progress, share updates and discuss the direction of the business. The session also saw some colleagues presented with long service acknowledgments celebrating a long career with TNEI – Johan Smith (10 years), Ewan Watson (10 years) and James Mackay (20 years) congratulations!
Following the AGM, colleagues moved into a series of mixed-group workshop exercises designed to encourage collaboration and relationship-building across teams. Each workshop explored opportunities for improvement and identified practical actions to help TNEI and its people realise their full potential.
Celebrating 10 years of TNEI Africa
After a busy afternoon of discussion and ideas, colleagues reconvened for the evening celebrations. Hosted by Team Africa, the celebration featured an African-themed experience, including culturally inspired food and a live band, giving colleagues the chance to relax, socialise and strengthen relationships across different business areas.
The second day saw colleagues taking part in hands-on environmental activities around campus, bringing teams together through practical work with a positive environmental impact. One group joined university volunteers on an iNaturalist tour of the site, taking photographs of flora, fauna and wildlife around campus to help build an Environmental Assessment. A second group supported rhododendron clearance in partnership with the university landscaping team, helping manage campus grounds while contributing to the university’s wider environmental work.
The event concluded with the TNEI Awards, celebrating the contributions and achievements of colleagues across the business.
Bringing together colleagues from different offices, disciplines and countries, the away day created valuable space to reflect on TNEI’s identity, values and future direction. From strategic discussion and practical workshops to cultural celebration and environmental action, the two-day programme highlighted the strength of TNEI’s people and the opportunities ahead.
